Can't close order on MT4 platform

dandroid001

Question

Hi, I have been having this problem of not able to close the order manually. Most times when I click on the Close bar (the Yellow bar), it always prompt me "Invalid price". I have to click on the Close bar several times before it finally execute the closure. But by the time I got the order closed, I have already lost several pips.

I am also using other broker with MT4 platform but I do not face such issue.

IG server having problem or what?

I am using live. That's where I am loosing money if I cant close the order in time. Tried calling IG hotline and was put on hold and it seems waiting for them is forever.. 😞

They need to resolve this fast else I am pulling out! I am loosing money and they are not!

not sure which trade terminal (panel) you are using, I don't recognise a 'yellow bar'. If you open the mt4 'Terminal' (icon top left) and select the Trades tab there is a close button there.

There should be no 'invalid price' notice on closing a trade.

see attached. the Close order (Yellow) bar. When I click on it, it shows invalid price. I have to click several times before I can finally close the order.

ok, you might be better off using one of the IG apps such as the mini terminal or the Trade terminal. You can download them as a pack from the IG mt4 web page or use the close button in Terminal as described above.

You are not alone. I have been experiencing this since Monday. Some contributors said that its due to mkt volatility...but i find it strange as i've used mt4 on other brokers platform...no none seem to have this experience. I am using a demo account to test the reliability of using mt4 on ig .but so far the experience has been less than desirable. There are just too many invalid and requotes incidences and they last a long time.. even previously not now due to the volatility of the mkt.
My chart is syncing properly but when i open the order page..the price shown is simply dead...not moving in accordance with the chart prices..thats why...it doesnt allow the user to open or close a posn...thats why  requote and invalid prices kept showing up.
I am inclined to believe that it is due to some technical issues rather than the volatility of the mkt as you dont see that in other brokers platform.
As i am on demo...its alright..but i dont know if those on live platform...if they experience this problem...they will be at the mercy of the mkt..if unable to close their posn....

Had the same problem- under the yellow line select enable deviation and pop in a couple of pips there- if price isn’t exactly the same as when you push open or close due to bouncing a little it won’t work-this should  give this a go and report back!

There is a dirty workaround of the problem (invalid volume). For example, I have an open position with a size of 3.45 lots.

  1. Double click on the order to bring Order dialog where you see that the "Close" button is grayed out.
  2. Go to the Volume form control and change the volume to 1 lot. This should enable the "Close" button
  3. Then click "Close"

Then go to step 1 to close out the position lot by lot.

    • US Dollar (DXY) Daily Price and Analysis US Q1 GDP may stall the greenback’s advance. A 20-year high nears for the US dollar. The multi-month US dollar rally continues with the greenback printing a fresh high today ahead of the first look at US Q1 GDP at 12.30 GMT. The US dollar basket (DXY) has been boosted by renewed weakness in the Euro and the Japanese Yen, as investors move from lower-yielding to higher-yielding currencies, while safe-haven flows continue to benefit the greenback. The US growth release later in the session is expected to show a sharp slowdown from the robust Q4 figure of 6.9%. The markets are currently pricing in growth of just 1% for the first three months of this year, with the slowdown mainly due to a reduction in inventory accrual over the quarter. This release is unlikely to move the greenback, unless there is a large miss or beat, as the Fed believe that 2022 US growth will be robust enough to let them tighten monetary policy sharply without damaging the economy. The latest US Core PCE data – the Fed’s preferred inflation reading – is released on Friday and this may have more effect on the US dollar than today’s GDP data. For all market moving economic data and events, see the DailyFX Calendar. The ongoing US dollar rally has been aided by weakness across a range of G7 currencies including the Euro, the Japanese Yen, and the British Pound. The Euro continues to battle with lowly growth expectations, exacerbated by energy concerns, the British Pound is mired by weak economic data, while the Japanese Yen is in freefall as the BoJ continues with its ultra-loose monetary policy.   The US dollar continues to press higher and looks set to break above 103.96, the March 2020 high. Above here the US dollar would be back at levels last seen nearly two decades ago. The March resistance will likely hold in the short-term, especially with month-end portfolio rebalancing at the end of the week, but US dollar strength is set to continue in the months ahead.
