Off quotes

MW86

Question

Tried to adjust my stop loss on my position in the FTSE this evening via the MT4 app and desktop dashboard and every time I try too I receive a message “off quotes”.

I have a decent internet connection (100mbps) at the time of writing this, and the MT4 terminal in the bottom right hand corner shows 45769/67KB.

what’s going on? Is anyone else having issues?

I've been attempting to open new positions for AUD/USD for the last 30 minutes and has been resulting in the same issue. Jumped on the computer and same thing.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Same problem with my MT4 account on the SP500. Tried modify, tried close, all off quotes. Going on for the past hour. Got an email from 'admin' saying they are working on closing the order.

Can anyone give me any assistance with this please? :)

Hi, the numbers in your connection box  (45769/67kb) are showing an awful large number of dropouts (67), my mt4 platform has been running constant for near 12 hours today and I have 12. You should hear a ding dong sound alarm on dropout and reconnection and there is usually only a second or 2 between them.

The 'off quotes' notice would also point to a problem with connection to the server, if happens again try a click on the connection box and click rescan and select a new data centre. If persists may need to email tech at the IG helpdesk.

Hey! Thank you for your response :)

The number 67 sounds a lot but my MT4 platform has been running 24 hours a day for the last 20 days straight on an Azure VPS. Is that number still quite high for that time period?

I could still place new trades last night, but any existing trades I wished to edit in any way would display the Off Quotes error. I was able to edit them at around 2am this morning, but at the time it was very frustrating.

Ok that’s great, next time it happens I’ll be sure to try what you’ve mentioned.

ah no, probably not that high for 20 days 24 hour a day.

if you were still placing other trades then the server should be ok, you weren't trying to place stops too close to current or such like? note the min distance is variable depending on current market volatility

when you say 'desktop dashboard' is that for the Trade terminal rather than the Mini terminal?

Yes sorry, the main trade terminal used on a Mac or PC.

Yeah I thought that might have been a reason, but it didn’t matter what I tried it just kept giving me that error.

Thanks for your help with this and if it happens again I’ll try what you’ve suggested. If it fails again I’ll contact IG.

    • US Dollar (DXY) Daily Price and Analysis US Q1 GDP may stall the greenback’s advance. A 20-year high nears for the US dollar. The multi-month US dollar rally continues with the greenback printing a fresh high today ahead of the first look at US Q1 GDP at 12.30 GMT. The US dollar basket (DXY) has been boosted by renewed weakness in the Euro and the Japanese Yen, as investors move from lower-yielding to higher-yielding currencies, while safe-haven flows continue to benefit the greenback. The US growth release later in the session is expected to show a sharp slowdown from the robust Q4 figure of 6.9%. The markets are currently pricing in growth of just 1% for the first three months of this year, with the slowdown mainly due to a reduction in inventory accrual over the quarter. This release is unlikely to move the greenback, unless there is a large miss or beat, as the Fed believe that 2022 US growth will be robust enough to let them tighten monetary policy sharply without damaging the economy. The latest US Core PCE data – the Fed’s preferred inflation reading – is released on Friday and this may have more effect on the US dollar than today’s GDP data. For all market moving economic data and events, see the DailyFX Calendar. The ongoing US dollar rally has been aided by weakness across a range of G7 currencies including the Euro, the Japanese Yen, and the British Pound. The Euro continues to battle with lowly growth expectations, exacerbated by energy concerns, the British Pound is mired by weak economic data, while the Japanese Yen is in freefall as the BoJ continues with its ultra-loose monetary policy.   The US dollar continues to press higher and looks set to break above 103.96, the March 2020 high. Above here the US dollar would be back at levels last seen nearly two decades ago. The March resistance will likely hold in the short-term, especially with month-end portfolio rebalancing at the end of the week, but US dollar strength is set to continue in the months ahead.
