US and Chinese CPI are key events for the week, along with the ECB’s latest decision. While no change in policy is expected, the bank will have to comment on moves in energy prices, as well as the steady rise in headline inflation. UK corporate news includes updates Greggs and insurers Legal & General and Prudential.

3am – China trade balance (Jan-Feb): exports to rise 20.9% YoY. Markets to watch: CNH crosses

Tuesday

1.30pm – US trade balance (January): deficit to rise to $82 billion. Markets to watch: USD crosses

11.30pm – Australia Westpac consumer confidence index (March): index to fall to 100.2. Markets to watch: AUD crosses

Wednesday

1.30am – China CPI (February): prices to rise 1.1% YoY and 0.5% MoM. Markets to watch: CNH crosses

3.30pm – US EIA crude oil inventories (w/e 4 March). Markets to watch: Brent, WTI

Thursday

12.45pm – ECB rate decision (1.30pm press conference): no change in policy expected, but commentary on potential changes expected. Markets to watch: eurozone indices, EUR crosses

1.30pm – US CPI (February), initial jobless claims (w/e 5 March): prices to rise 7.8% YoY and 0.7% MoM, and core CPI to rise 6.4% YoY. Markets to watch: US indices, USD crosses

Friday

7am – UK GDP (January): MoM rate to rise 0.3%, and 3-month average to be 1%. Markets to watch: GBP crosses

1.30pm – Canada employment report (February): unemployment rate to fall to 6.4%. Markets to watch: CAD crosses

3pm – US Michigan consumer sentiment (March, preliminary): index to fall to 61.8. Markets to watch: USD crosses
